| The gold barb, Barbus semifaciolatus schuberti, makes a lovely, exciting addition to freshwater aquariums. This subtropical, schooling fish should be kept in groups of five individuals or more. The gold barb is a frisky, bright yellow barb that develops green and red highlights in maturity. Less |

| aggressive than most other barbs, gold barbs are best suited to planted tanks with larger tetras, loaches, cory cats, and other community fish. Be wary of adding them into small tanks with skittish or sensitive fish like cardinal tetras, as their very active behavior may stress these fish. The gold barb is an easy fish to maintain. They are omnivorous and thrive in pH values of 6.5-7.7 and temperatures ranging between 64-72. Feed them a variety of foods including community flakes, blood worms, and spirulina enhanced brine shrimp. |
