Product Review
Brackish water fishes primarily originate from estuaries where freshwater mixes with seawater as well as lakes and inland seas with salinity lower than oceans. The term "brackish" encompasses a wide range of salinity, from only a few parts per thousand (ppt) of salt to levels almost equal to the salinity of marine aquariums. Many aquarist utilize regular aquarium salt (plain sodium chloride) to approximate brackish environments, but Seachem's Brackish Salt (formerly Livebearer Salt) mimics natural environments better and has added benefits. Regular aquarium salt (sodium chloride) can often kill aquarium plants, especially at higher doses. Seachem's Brackish Salt is safe |
for all types of aquarium plants in all dosing amounts except for the dose recomended for scats. It also provides trace elements essential to plant growth. Seachem includes instructions to mimic environments for specific species of fishes, including livebearers, estuary fishes from southeast Asia and the Yucatan, and scats. Since Seachem Brackish Salt is a blend of different salts, it helps increase mineral content (gh) with trace amounts of essential minerals like magnesium and calcium. Like sodium chloride, Brackish Salt also helps prevent nitrite poisoning and disease.
