Looking for a cichlid but don’t want the aggression? Then German Blue Rams are just for you! These little cichlids pack a lot of personality and do well in planted community tanks. Generally color up really well when in pairs or even in a harem with multiple females. Males generally are larger and have a longer dorsal fin. Females tend to have pink bellies and have opaline spots above the black spot that all German Blue Rams possess. Breeding is relatively easy and come with good, consistent water conditions. When laying the eggs the male will come along to deposit his sperm. When the eggs are fertilized the parents take turns protecting the “nest.” This behavior is unique to this species and is quite fun to watch.
