The dwarf dragon goby is a small fish native to Japan and Taiwan.   It is a temperate species that requires sub-tropical water conditions.  It thrives in planted or heavily decorated aquariums with moderate to high water flow and requires soft sand or smooth gravel substrate in which it can bury itself.  The dwarf dragon goby grows to an adult size of 1 to 2 inches.

The dwarf dragon goby is a truly scaleless fish with the ability to camouflage and dramatically change its color to match its surroundings.  This small fish can achieve nearly any shade of brown, black, gray, and near white coloration.  This is a true freshwater goby that is compatible with adult dwarf shrimp and even the smallest fish, making it a perfect nano aquarium inhabitant.

The dwarf dragon goby should be maintained in an aquarium of 5 gallons or larger.  While not a schooling fish, it can easily be kept in groups.  They should be kept on a soft, sandy substrate (CS6631) with driftwood (ZM2000), and other decorations in a well planted aquarium.

The dwarf dragon goby prefers a temperature of 64°F to 75°F, a pH of 7.0 to 7.8, and a hardness of 8 to 20°H.

The dwarf dragon goby is typically a very peaceful fish and suitable for a small community aquarium.  It will fare especially well in a heavily planted aquarium.  Good tank mates include adult dwarf shrimp, and other small fish such as celestial danios, pygmy cories, otocinclus, and ember tetras.

Dwarf dragon gobies are micro predators and should be fed small meaty foods including live blackworms, frozen cyclops (SF1001), and frozen baby brine shrimp (SF1003).  For maximum color, growth, and health these fish will look their best when given probiotics (AL169) in addition to a balanced diet.
